Associação Amigos do Projeto Guri is a Social Organization of culture and nonprofit institution. Since 2004, it is the manager of the Projeto Guri – the largest Brazilian socio-cultural project – in the interior, coast and in the units of the Fundação CASA in the State of São Paulo. In 2019, we will hold the second edition of the Ethno Brazil festival. In partnership with JMI (Jeunesses Musicales International), we will host 25 young people from all over the world for 13 days for a cultural immersion, exchanges and multiple experiences. The intention is to estimulate diversified musical production. The result can would be seeing in shows that the young musicians will present on stage in the interior and in the capital of São Paulo.
Currently, Projeto Guri is present in almost 300 municipalities in the State of São Paulo, bringing music and stimulating local cultures. Experience in collective teaching practice, the organization of great musical shows, publications of teaching materials and the production of DVDs and CDs enabled Amigos do Guri to sign an agreement with the JMI, which has been acting in partnership since 2015.
One of our achievements in partnership with JMI is the Imagine Brazil festival, a competition that brings together young artists, representatives of the most diverse musical styles. In Brazil, we are also at the forefront of MOVE, an international exchange program for volunteer musicians under 25 years old, who receives selected people from Malawi, Mozambique and Norway and we also sends six young Brazilians to these countries.
